What opportunities for learning will your child have?

The Early Years Foundation Stage promotes the development of your child across 3 Prime Areas.

Personal and Social Development. 

Children will have the opportunity to:

  • Play and explore alongside others.
  • Encourage them to interact and develop early social skills.
  • To develop preferences and interests.
  • To show awareness of feelings and emotions. 

Communication and Language

Children will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop their vocabulary and begin to express their needs through talking.
  • Develop new vocabulary through new experiences.
  • Listen to and join in with stories, rhymes and songs.
  • Begin to identify familiar sounds in the environment.
  • Make choices and explore activities.  

Physical Development 

Children will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop gross motor skill through large block play and physical equipment in the outside class room including trikes, bikes, balance bikes, large balls and hoops.
  • Develop fine motor skills including hand eye co-ordination through activities such as threading, painting, sand and water play and develop pencil control through a variety of mark making tools.
  • Children will be encouraged to begin developing independence in self-care including washing hands and helping with toileting routines.
